This facility is smaller and more engaging than some of the larger facilities that we toured. Everyone was very friendly and caring, and the facilities were always kept nice and clean. It has a homey vibe, which I think helps people transition to their new surroundings. My mom was there through the pandemic, and that was very difficult. But Allerton was fantastic through it all. The first 20-22 months were superb when [name removed] was the nurse in charge of the Memory Care unit. Once she went elsewhere, her replacement I believe was out of her league and the care waned. She was very nice and tried, but it was just not the same. There was a lot of general staff turnover at that time as well. That being said, she was not there for long, and I hear there is a new nurse now and more Dementia-related activities. Overall, for the money, the facility is terrific.
