Peachtree is quite expensive, but if you have a loved one with Alzheimer's, and you're looking for a place with lots of personalized, one on one, hands-on care, this facility is quite impressive. One of the biggest advantages is the way Peachtree is divided into four different "pods," which makes the place more like a home instead of a giant facility. Also, the activities director is a woman named "Tia," and she is amazing, especially with advanced Alzheimer's residents.
About the facility Peachtree Creek
Peachtree Creek Memory Care is located in Smyrna, Georgia. We pride ourselves on being a community for individuals who have medical diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer's. Memory care is our primary focus that we offer to our residents. Some of the great services that are provided include the following: 24 hour assisted living help, medication administration, continence management, weekly housekeeping and laundry, restaurant style dining and in house medical teams. We are known for our excellent selection of social, spiritual, educational and entertainment programs that allow the elderly to interact with other residents. Both seniors and their family members are embraced by the staff so that memory care can be successful. Family members are involved in all of the aspects of care so that they can make sure that their elderly loved ones are taken care of. We pride ourselves on being a facility that focuses on making assisted living something that seniors feel happy about.

Great Memory Care Facility
The staff is attentive and very kind to the residents at Peachtree Creek. Every time I visit my mother in law, she speaks about how well she is treated; and she enjoys the food. The staff shows me pictures of her exercising and having fun at parties. I would recommend this facility to friends and family.

Hidden Gem
In our first 4 months, Peachtree Creek has blown me away. The staff have been excellent, with only a few (mostly on the weekends) that are not talkative or willing to engage. The fact that residents can wander the entire building during the day and are not confined to one hall or space is fantastic. Plus the natural light, new renovations, outings and activities, and massive "backyard" are all things that are difficult to find in a similar setting - all of which are great for dementia/Alzheimer's patients. I researched 7 seven places in the surrounding area and none of them had these amenities or options. I find a lot of comfort knowing my mom is well taken care of and surrounded by people who truly care and who are willing to go above and beyond what's expected of them.

Mom loves it here
Mom loves to dance. We are very satisfied. Mom is comfortable. The staff takes really good care of her. It has been a pleasant experience. Good deal for the value of the money. Mom has flourished, at first, she was in a shell. Overall, the staff is outstanding, professional, and concerned about the residents. It is a relief on my mind, not to worry about her.

I struggled to find a home for my mom. The staff here was so friendly and so accommodating. They answered all my questions. Mom's transition was really easy. She seems to be really happy here and enjoys the activities. It gives me peace of mind knowing she is getting good care.

Outstanding in EVERY category
Peachtree Creek is absolutely outstanding in every category. My mother is a resident and I have seen a significant change in her demeanor since she has been there. She smiles and laughs more than I have seen in years! The staff is incredible and everyone has a pleasant and peaceful manner. This is not something I have seen anywhere else. The building, rooms and community center are clean and tidy and the environment is filled with happiness. Daily activities keep the residents occupied - and these activities are tailored to their residents specific abilities and limitations. When I last visited everyone was playing "volleyball" in the community center with pool noodles and a balloon. This one especially touched my heart as I hadn't seen my mother interact with anyone or participate in a group activity in years before this. Peachtree Creek is truly a special, wonderful place and I am so thankful my mother is there!!

Our tour experience
Our loved one will be coming to Peachtree Creek here soon, and we are so excited to see what our experience is going to be like. They offer, occupational there, physical there and speech therapy and we think that is amazing for this with dementia or Alzheimer's, it will help prolong the effects. Also they have a doctor and neurologist come to the community instead of transporting the residents to and from their appointments. Also the patients to staff ratio is spot on, it is like 3 to 4 or 4 to 5, so almost perfect and they have different levels of memory care.

Our family was able to do an in person tour because it was before the pandemic, and the tour was just okay. The community is a little older and what we did not like about it, was the communal bathrooms. We wanted our loved one to have their private bathroom.

Peachtree Creek memory center family
My wife has been at Peachtree creek for over 4 years. The staff is very helpful and fairly consistent. The management staff is very supportive and keeps families informed via email. Obviously, while I am unable to visit and interact with my wife, the staff is protecting our most vulnerable loved ones during this pandemic. I was very happy that the first round of vaccine shots have been received and the second round is scheduled. I miss the activities I was able to see first hand and to walk the grounds and backyard, but understand the restrictions. I cannot wait to be able to enter the facility in the future.

Entire Staff Part of Team!
Peachtree Creek specializes in memory care and fully understands the needs of Dementia patients. Additionally, the kindness and love the staff consistently show to the residents in the facility is impressive. The facility is well managed! The ENTIRE staff (director, nursing, kitchen, maintenance, front desk, activities director, caretakers, etc.) willingly steps in to help with ANY task when needed. Peachtree Creek strives to work in partnership with the families while providing the best care for our loved one. After two years, we continue to feel this is the perfect fit for us!

Please do your research!
The communication is not good at all. Getting updates on your loved one is like pulling teeth. The pandemic doesn't make it any better! You would think since the family can only do facetime or window visits, the ED would be more willing to update the families on what is going on with your loved ones, not just a generic "Covid" update. I have only had one great caregiver at the facility, she cares and treats the residents as her family. Other's don't care about your family member, at least it doesn't appear as such. Housekeeping has been put on the caregiver's instead of having a true housekeeper. Not sure what activities are going on with the residents. Apparently, COVID has put a stop on activities other then the activities director walking around asking the residents how they are. These residents need their minds stimulated, they need activity! I have reached out to corporate only to be told to call the ED's manager. I'm still waiting on a call back from her, almost 2 months later.

It distrubs me that the facility smells like urine. I am told by the Director, [name removed] that the carpet is getting replaced but nothing has happened yet.
The LPN [name removed] is top notch, the CMA's taking care of my mom, [name removed], [name removed] are fantastic. The LPN [name removed] is fabulous, [name removed] the Activities Director is outstanding, [name removed] the Maintenance Director is fantastic.

Peachtree Creek and Wayman Parks are FANTASTIC!
My wife and I were in a tough situation near the end of [date removed]. We were needing to find a facility for my mother in law, because her disease had progressed to a point where she had to be in a memory care facility. As we began our investigation of different options, it became apparent that there are several facilities providing average/below average care, while still charging astronomical prices. We spoke with family, friends and people in the industry and were able to compile a list of 8-10 places to evaluate. The first place we visited was Peachtree Creek. The director of the facility, [name removed], came out to meet us for our meeting. As we spoke with [name removed], it was clear that he is passionate about his job. As we listened to the things he said, my thought was that this sounds to good to be true. The thing that stood out to me the most was the stories he shared of current residents and how he interacts with them. There are so many places where the person in charge is simply managing the staff but is not doing much more. [Name removed] does not work that way! As he took us on a tour of the building, the stories he shared began to come to life. His interaction with each person was really the icing on the cake! After the interview/tour, both my wife and I were confident that we had found the home for her mother. Normally, there is a lot of red tape that makes it difficult to move a patient from one place to another. [Name removed] and his team totally took the lead and we were able to have her moved with little to no stress for us. I just want to send out a BIG “thank you” to [name removed] and his staff! [Name removed] is a true professional and he’s made Peachtree Creek a home for not only his residents, but the families, too!!

Terrible.
If you are considering moving your loved one to Peachtree Creek, please reconsider. I will always regret moving my mother there, even though she was there for only 2.5 weeks.
I made the mistake of trusting an independent senior adviser that Peachtree Creek in Smyrna, Georgia would be a great community for my mother. I had read some mixed reviews on this community, but the senior adviser brushed off my concerns.
My mother's room was very small, the place was dark and smelled, the food was terrible, management was terrible and most of the staff did not care, were rude and did not demonstrate any compassion for the residents. Most of all, my mother was not safe at Peachtree Creek.
I had hired private caregivers to stay with Mom 24/7 to help make her transition to Peachtree Creek smooth. I had hoped to wean her off of this service within a week or two, but due to my very legitimate concerns for her safety and well-being I had to keep them with her throughout her entire stay there.
Some of the residents wander (it is an all-memory care community), several of the male residents wandered into my mother's room repeatedly throughout the night. Thankfully my mom always had a private caregiver sitting in her room with her to keep these men from coming in her room. The first night that mom was there, her caregiver took her for a walk down the hall before getting her ready for bed. While they were out of Mom's room, a male resident whose room was across the hall got in Mom's bed and under the covers and refused to get out of the bed. The man was confrontational and it took my caregiver several minutes to get the man out of Mom's bed and her room. This event left a lasting imprint on my mom, causing her to experience anxiety each night as it got close to her bed time. Every night that my mom was in this room, my caregivers had to push a chair up against the door and sit in it to keep these men from entering my mom’s room, as the doors did not have locks. But that didn’t stop them from trying to open the door a dozen or more times each night. The Peachtree Creek staff was nowhere to be found and did not monitor the wandering residents. When I brought this to management's attention, they knew which residents it was without me giving any details and blew it off by saying one of the wandering residents was "perfectly harmless" and that another "just had his medication adjusted today" but did not acknowledge my legitimate concerns for my mother's safety. If my private caregiver had not been with my mother, I would never have known, nobody would have been there to protect my mother and who knows what could have happened...
The shower room was filthy and smelled terrible, the other one was "out of order", so it was probably in much worse condition. The entire building was dark with very little natural light and parts of it smelled like urine. I noticed that residents in wheelchairs were left alone in the rooms for hours at a time, without being checked on by staff. One resident was wearing the same dirty shirt every time I saw him. The food was pitiful at best, undercooked, overcooked or just plain unappealing. My mother's laundry was never washed by the staff, she was never given a shower by the Peachtree Creek staff (even though the contract I signed and what I was paying for stated that they would give her showers 3 times per week), her room was never cleaned (her room and bathroom were dirty when she moved in) and the trash can in her room wasn't emptied during her entire stay. They also missed giving her some of her meds on multiple occasions and took days after they had received her lab results to give them to me. I was paying for all of these things and when I brought it to the attention of [name removed], the Executive Director, he implied that I was a liar and that my private caregivers who were by my mom's side 24/7 while she was there, were liars too.
My paid caregivers were the only people who gave my mother her showers, cleaned her room, did her laundry, etc. If I am paying $4,000 a month for my mom to stay there, I shouldn't have to pay someone else to do what Peachtree Creek is getting paid to do.
The Executive Director, [name removed], is one of the most arrogant and unhelpful people I have ever come in contact with. He demonstrated no compassion and had no concern for my mother's safety that he was putting at risk. He stayed in his office, did not work weekends and should not be working with seniors. Unfortunately, his attitude carried over to most of his staff.
The Wellness Director, [name removed], was almost as rude, arrogant and unhelpful as [name removed]. The day my mom moved out, a nurse under [name removed] had just started (I don't know her name) and was incredibly rude to me. I asked her to give me mom mother's medications and stated the reasons why I was moving out. Her response was "I just started working here" and that she wasn't responsible for any of the problems. She then kicked out of her office, because I "threw medication" at her, which was not true. She gave me my mother's medications in a flimsy trash bag that tears easily. The meds were bubble packed in rectangular cards and the corners of those cards poked multiple holes in the flimsy bag she put the medications in, which caused the bag to break and the medications to fall on the ground. Before the bag broke, I asked her several times if she had a box or something sturdier than a flimsy trash bag to put my mother's medications in (I brought them to Peachtree Creek in a box), she said there was nothing else and repeatedly told me to get out of her office. When I was given my mother's medications, I noticed that one was missing-a controlled substance. I had to specifically ask for it multiple times, with the nurse insisting they had given me everything until they finally were able to "find" them.
When I moved my mother out, she had a credit owed to her of just over $2,400. I was told by [name removed], the Business Office Manager, that the check would be mailed in 30 days. After many phone calls, emails and promises, the check finally arrived 60 days later. I copied the Executive Director, [name removed], on every email regarding this matter and he never responded. While this was not surprising at all, it was very disappointing. I will say that [name removed] seemed to do what she could to help get the check issued.
Two staff members who did care were [name removed] and [name removed] at the front desk. They were friendly and cared about the residents, while the other employees appeared to be there just to earn a paycheck.
My heart breaks for the residents who still live at Peachtree Creek. In the many times that I visited my mom while she was here, I noticed very few other residents had visitors. It's a "throw away community", where people moved their family members and don't visit.

Moving my son to Peachtree Creek was like moving him from darkness to sunshine. They care about their residents!! They listen and try to solve issues that the families may have concerning their loved ones. They keep striving to make Peachtree Creek a greater place for your loved one!
